A Message From the President |
Ralph Ferrer |
11/16/2008
Dear POGI Members:
The culmination of the Awards Night officially capped our 2008 golf season. |
The feeling is like a double-edged sword. On the one side, I'm delighted that the season is over and now I can enjoy the rest of the year. But on the other hand, there's no more golf until we open the season again sometime in March next year. If you ask me, it's an empty feeling but one that I will gladly take so I can recuperate and be ready again for the next golf season.
I'm thankful to all the members of the Executive Committee and all the members for another successful season. I know we had our ups and downs this year. I apologize if I had been rough on some occasions. I took this job with the intention of making the difference. I don't want to be called a president and not productive or what you call "armchair quarterback". This club is still young and growing compared to other experienced clubs. We still need some tweaking, mistakes were made and hopefully we learned from it and improvement is a must. I know we have the core in this club to make the difference. Our club is gaining some popularity and I am very honored to be a part of it and be surrounded by people like you. I hope you will be there again for me and for the POGI organization when we begin our 8th year.
As my good friend, Dennis De Leon had said while at the Newark airport last week for the Year-End Golf Getaway, "The game of golf is like a marathon. You take it one step at a time." Well Dennis, we've taken major steps and while the finish line is not yet in sight, I can proudly say that the steps were easy despite the load because of the enormous support that I have enjoyed from everyone.
I wish everyone a great Thanksgiving, a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year.
Sincerely,
Ralph |
